Description | The essay focuses on the conception of scenery in the novel Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. The purpose of scenery description is not only to create a lyric background for the plot, and scenery depiction is not only a way of refining the overall picture of the fictional world, although it does fulfil these functions as well. J.R.R. Tolkien used the scenery motives as a means of structuring the plot, evoking and emphasising the idea of time flow, thus accelerating the action. |
