Description | The article introduces the personality and the literary work of Ludmila Durdíková. In the Czech environment it is still little known that this Czech writer, translator, literary critic, editor and wife of the French writer and publisher Paul Faucher was a co-creator of the modern literary, art and publication conception of French books for children. She wrote her first literary works while still living in Prague – when she was an assistant of František Bakule in the Jedlička Institute. Her intimate knowledge of child’s psyche and sensitive approach to the vulnerable mind of the handicapped, proved in those early books, may be seen as an indication of her future successful work for children. In France, she used the pen-name Lida and made her mark in the French literature with several books from the thematic series A Novel on Animals of the specialized series Albums du Pere Castor. |
