Description | The article deals with stem gradation in Finnish and Estonian from the perspective of learning these two languages as foreign languages. It is focused mainly on two problems related to gradation in the learning process. The first is the so-called indirect or reversed gradation and the second is the ortographical reflection of stem changes caused by gradation. The first theme seems to be more relevant to Finnish, the second to Estonian. The analysis was based on comparison between theoretical litrature and literature meant for studying Finnish and Estonian as foreign languages. My material included a test for students of these languages. |
