Description | Empirical survey carried out among professional caregivers was focused on identifying the opinions about the possibility of implementing Evidence-Based Nursing (EBN) into clinical practice in geriatric nursing in relation to the level of general nurses' knowledge and their interest in the given field. Within the survey we addressed all general nurses from eleven clinics of Brno Bohunice Faculty Hospital - Clinic of Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Practical Medicine, Clinic of Pulmonary Diseases and Tuberculosis, Clinic of Infectious Diseases, Clinic of Orthopedics, Clinics of Surgery, Clinic of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, Clinic of Neurology, Clinic of Internal Cardiology Medicine, Clinic of Internal Gastroenterology, Clinic of Internal Hematooncology, Clinic of Urology. The questionnaires were distributed personally among general nurses through contact persons (head nurses of individual departments of the above mentioned clinics). The only prerequisite for the inclusion to the survey was at least one year of hospital practice of the respondents. This time is sufficient for the nurse to get acquainted with the functioning of the department and after that she can be considered to be capable of focusing on other specialized activities and interests. |
