Description | Memory – the key word of the Media-Performance 3 symposium – represents to us a borderline between live arts, events and processes, and media of recording and representation, from analog to digital. We use the metaphor of memory as an interface/an access point to the debate on media and performance. The media can be seen as models of our minds, as well as they can be used as extensions of our memory abilities. Thus, to think about relations between live actions and memory media, requires from us to take into account functions and politics of memory and remembering too. The participants of the symposium are mostly Czech and German theoreticians of new media arts and science and artists dealing with the issue of processing and reconstruction of the past. The symposium is divided into three thematic parts: October 13: Memory Performance October 14: The Art of Memory October 15: Mechanisms of Remembering and Forgetting |
