Description | The symposium is dedicated to the forty years anniversary of the exhibition Software: Information Technology Its New Meaning for Art (New York 1970-1971). The curator, the prominent media art theoretician, Jack Burnham conceived it as one big installation – system within which the visitors are encouraged to find out analogies and parallels between the newest systems of information technologies and conceptual art. The Burnham vision of art practice and information technologies as a one system became currant again in the last years when the new discipline Software studies is emerging within humanities as a new platform for research focusing on software as a cultural product and phenomenon. |
