Description | This study is focused on the study of glassware from the Bronze Age, La Tene period and Migration Period. The process was realized on three sets of archaeological glass, two of southern Moravia (Kyjov and several locations in the Hodonin and Kyjov districts) and one from central Slovakia. These sets provided a wide range of technological variations and shapes of glassware. The collected data were used for interpretation of different technological aspects of production, such as basic types of raw materials, their provenance and possible recipes. Finally, it was examined the state of damage and its causes, whether the glass was attacked by heat or corrosive environments. Mutual comparison of various types of glass provided particulars about the development of glass technology and highlighted the sophistication and extensiveness of the glassmakers or width of the long distance trade. For the observation and analysis were used following methods: OM, XRF, micro-XRF, SEM-EDX and XRD. |
