Description Brain metastases are a common complication of systemic neoplastic disease; 60–75 % of them are symptomatic during a life course. Although the exact incidence of brain metastases is unknown, it can be estimated at value that exceeds more than ten times the value of primary brain tumor incidence. Currently, the incidence of brain metastases increases. The fact is probably due to both longer survival of oncologic patients and improving diagnostic possibilities. Knowledge of possible neurologic manifestations is necessary for early diagnosis of brain tumors. The object of the present article is a concise description of functional brain anatomy and neurologic symptomatology of intracranial expansions. Early detection of local and/or general neurologic manifestations of brain metastases plays an indispensable role in care for oncology patients.
