Description The book is designed both for students of medicine, and for medical specialists who deal with trauma with the emphasis on their expert assessment. It can be also a valuable guide for specialists in forensic medicine and traumatology, as well as for general practitioners. The emphasis is placed on the assessment of severity of injury, not so for the purpose of therapy, but rather for legal purposes. The general part deals with different types of blunt injury. Separate subsections are injuries without breaking the skin, injuries violating the skin, bone injuries, impairments of joints, muscles and tendons. The extensive special and detailed section describes systematically various injuries from head to legs. Specifics of blunt trauma in childhood, and blast injuries are listed separately. Each chapter focuses on the types of injuries starting with completely trivial wound to severe devastations incompatible with life. For each injury all possibilities of inducing mechanisms are listed, including theoretical and rare, appearance and diagnosis of injuries, symptoms, or the latest insights into the usual duration of treatment in current medical practice. The work contains a large number of sketches and diagrams, for greater clarity directly included in the text.
