| Description | The paper makes a comparison between Czech and French picture books in the contemporary Czech and French literatures for children and youth. The Czech picture book is now at the beginning of the road on which French publishers have been since the 1970s. The contemporary Czech picture book is the most prolific in the field of experiments and wordplays where it often goes beyond the horizon of children’s literature aiming more at adults. Translations of French books for children and youth might then be a welcome inspiration, especially if the image of children’s world is at issue. The paper draws on a literary-historical research. |
