Description | The paper examines the differences in verbal meanings between English and Czech in secondary agent constructions. The paper shows that English displays a relatively low degree of pragmatic explicitness: the meaning of the construction is thus determined by a more or less firmly established situational frame associated with a given construction. By contrast, the Czech equivalents are more explicit. |
