Description Leg ulcers in most cases arise from major trophic tissue changes damaged by previous circulatory disease. In percentage terms represent venous leg ulcers the biggest part of the etiological spectrum (85%), significantly smaller proportion (10%) represent arterial ulcers and the remaining 5% has a different cause. Within the last group belong less common infectious ulcers. Although we are obvious of this causation, knowledge of the relevant differential diagnostic considerations is of crucial importance, especially for ulcers with poorly healing tendencies.
