Description | Basal-cell carcinoma is the most common type of skin cancer. It is characterized by local infiltrative growth. However , it rarely metastasizes, even though it is locally aggressive, thus it may be regarded as a semimalignant tumor. In 80 percent of all cases, basal-cell cancers are found on the head and neck. For simplicity, one can also divide basal-cell carcinoma into 3 groups: superficial basal cell carcinoma, infiltrative basal-cell carcinoma and nodular basal-cell carcinoma. |
