Citation
Description The speaker outlined his rich experience as a psychologist at the Academic Psychodiagnostic Centre of the Masaryk University headquarters. He executes psychological testing of applicants for non-academic jobs at the Masaryk University headquarters and at certain faculties. The talk addressed various theories of success in these positions and explored the risks of professional failure. Between 1991 – 2011 he was assigned by the Czech Judiciary to perform complex psychological examinations of the applicants for the positions of judicial candidates, legal candidates, judges, public prosecutors and distrainors. The counsel of a professional psychologist was invited in order to assess the applicants on the grounds of their personality qualifications to deliver outstanding performance in public service in a long-term horizon. He also engaged in substantiating the procedures of planning and executing psychological tests. Regional chief attorneys play an important role in the selection of applicants, as they are familiar with the psychological tests results. They also favourably affect the number of accepted high-performance applicants and help prevent potential bias by organized interest groups aiming to gain influence within the Judiciary.
