| Description | This lecture dealt with filmic transpositions of literary works. I elucidated the discord between the older and newer ideas about film adaptations of books; I also attempted to describe the process of structuring of the field and the present disordered state of art, and drew attention to the study of adaptations as texts shaped by a wide range of intertextual, intermedial and contextual influences, which go beyond a simple relation between a book and a film. I also interpreted the film Adelheid by František Vláčil. |
