Description | Chapter critically reflects and determines a theoretical frame of perception of new media. It defines the terms “technoculture” and “information society”, emphasizing their dependence on economic conditions and their influence on the communication process. It introduces a hypothesis of a loss of hermeneutic sense as a characteristic of journalists’ changing relationship to information. The hypothesis is based on knowledge about constituting information violence in the form of bricolage as a dominant mode of communication in the new media environment together with a persisting trend of media convergence, challenging a further polemic. |
