Admission requirements for doctoral studies
In accordance with Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and on the Modification and Amendment of Other Acts (hereinafter “Higher Education Act”), successfully completed Master’s degree studies constitute a prerequisite for admission to a doctoral degree programme. In case such studies have been previously completed abroad, an applicant is required to provide proof of recognition. Graduates of Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree programmes wishing to obtain recognition of foreign higher education qualifications at Masaryk University must consult the Office for Studies at the Rector’s Office.
In accordance with section 49 of the Higher Education Act, each faculty may also implement its own admission requirements, generally tested by means of an entrance examination. All information relevant to the admission procedure must be announced a minimum of four months prior to the examination (one month in advance in the case of newly accredited fields of study).
An applicant who has met all admission procedure requirements (e.g. successfully completed the entrance examination, achieved a certain ranking among applicants) will subsequently be admitted to studies in a doctoral degree programme. In accordance with section 50, subsection 7 of the Higher Education Act, an applicant may file an appeal within 30 days of receiving a negative admission decision.
Admission procedure fees
Admission procedure fees are set at 600 CZK (at Faculty of Social Studies 650 CZK) per entrance application.
Applicants are required to pay the fee for each entrance application submitted. A unique set of identification data is generated by the system following the completion of each entrance application. Payments are to be made via the MU Shopping Centre directly in the e-application. A common payment may be made in the case of multiple applications. No proof of payment document is sent to the faculty, each applicant must save it individually. The fee will not be refunded to applicants who fail to attend the entrance examination.
Application submission date
Entrance applications may be submitted electronically via the IS MU. Deadlines for the submission of electronic applications are set by the individual faculties and may differ – up-to-date information is to be found on faculty websites.
An application is considered submitted in case it has been electronically submitted by 24:00 on the last day. In order to be accepted, an application must be completed and the relevant fee payment made.
