Admission requirements

The result of the admission process depends on the quality of the provided documents:

  • two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a teacher
  • statement of purpose in English (500 words maximum)
  • a document demonstrating English-language skills at the B2 level
  • transcript of secondary school studies
  • some study fields may require also ID or passport copy or secondary school certificate or essay.

Applications will be reviewed by the admission committee and students who pass the first round will be invited for a skype interview. Further details can be found at the faculty website.

Admission requirements

English Language and Literature, North-American Culture Studies
Applicants must submit following documents:

  • CV
  • two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a teacher
  • statement of purpose in English (750 words maximum)
  • copy of the applicant's Bachelor's thesis or its equivalent or 15 pages of applicant´s original academic paper
  • a document demonstrating English-language skills at the C1 level
  • transcript of university/college studies
  • programme North-American Culture Studies requires demonstration of French-language/Spanish language skills at the B1 level

Applications will be reviewed by the admission committee and students who pass the first round will be invited for a skype interview. Further details can be found here.

Visual Culture and Art History
Students of the Department of Art History at MU who have had excellent results in the defence of their Bachelor’s thesis (evaluation A–B) are admitted to the follow-up master’s program without admission interview.

If a student from another programme or another university applies, he/she should present:

  • a written motivation letter, explaining the reasons for interest to study
  • furthermore, student must have successfully defended a B.A. in art history, with an excellent evaluation of thesis (A–B), and with focus on the Mediterranean, Caucasian, Euro-American art and visual cultures
  • student will then undergo an oral examination by a committee of the Department of Art History professors
