Project proposes development and validation of a system of in vitro tests for detection of endocrine disruption potential of environmental contaminants that is unique in the Czech Republic. The tests will enable to study interactions of xenobiotics withr egulation mechanisms on the level of receptors (estrogen, androgen, glucocorticoid, retinoid) and steroidogenesis. The methods can be used to study important pollutants, as well as agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals or complex mixtures from environmentalsamp les. The project will bring new information on potential of persistent organic pollutants (POPs), which significantly contribute to environmental pollution in the Czech Republic, to affect the endocrine system. The project will be focused on fillinggaps in information about commonly studied POPs and on testing new priority POPs. The results will complement ecotoxicological characteristics of studied compounds and contribute to prediction of risks related to contamination.
