The aims is to build on the European Pilot Project "Evaluating Quality in School Education" through further and more complex dissemination of the experiences, findings, approach, method and tools which came out of that work. It aims to widen the scope of its impact in geographical, intercultural and methodological terms and to maximize its strategic power in terms of its overarching transferability within diversity and enlargement, while capitalizing on emerging needs highlighted by the European Commission.
Students, teachers, principals, parents, advisors, researchers, decision makers in a number of southern European and acceding member countries would, we believe, benefit significantly from the actions proposed, given the growing policy priority of quality assurance and the need for practical approaches to the matter. The dissemination is also meant to collect valued contributions from the different partners, in a multidirectional, multicultural and synergic "cross-dissemination" of existing school self-evaluation practice.
5 further versions, all in LWUTL, of the book that came out of the pilot project are envisaged, as is the adaptation of case studies and self-evaluation instruments to the cultural contexts of the partners, with scope for further experimentation within 40 schools through action research. ICT exchange and a website, a seminar, two workshops, national conferences and an international conference are amongst the activities planned in our East-West dialogue.
