In 2011, the Czech Republic acceded to the European Advanced Translational Research Infrastructure in Medicine (EATRIS) consortium and this transitional phase lasted even in 2013. EATRIS entered in fall 2013 to ERIC (EATRIS-ERIC) and the Czech Republic became one of the founding countries. At the national level, the national node was built according to the schedule in 2010-2014 (Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Palacky University Olomouc - IMTM), and in 2013/2014 we have created the national network, where the following institutions joined: Institute of Chemical Technology Prague (ICT), Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry AS CR, v.v.i. (IOCB), Charles University in Prague, First Faculty of Medicine (CU), Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry AS CR, v.v.i. (IMC), Masaryk University, Central-European Technology Institute (CEITEC), Nuclear Physics Institute of the ASCR, v.v.i. (NPI), Institute of Microbiology AS CR, v.v.i. (IM). Majority of these institutions have already signed an access agreement to EATRIS-ERIC
(http://www.eatris.eu/about/simpleinstitutions.html). Czech institutions are actively involved in the
activities of platforms Small Molecules, Biomarkers, Vaccines, and Imaging and Tracing. The mission of the current infrastructure project proposal EATRIS-ERIC-CZ is to further develop a dynamic and collaborative environment that will support chemical, biomedical, and clinical research, and speed up its transfer into clinical practice. It will connect and facilitate collaboration of top national research institutions and hospitals in the research partnership. EATRIS-ERIC-CZ will lead to the development of new knowledge and it will place the Czech Republic among nationally and internationally recognized centres of excellence in molecular and translational medicine directly linked to EATRIS-ERIC and other major biomedical infrastructures.
