Transitional program is a set of services that provide assistance in the transition from school to work for pupils with disabilities. The main purpose of the projekt "Transitional Program for Persons with Mental Disability" is to map and analyse the current situation of transitional program in the region of the Czech Republic. The object of activity of the research intention is to obtain information and source materials from the individual service providers of transitional program.
Results
The main purpose of the faculty research project was to map the providers of the transitional program for persons with mental disabilities in the Czech Republic and find out how the organizations provide and implement school to work transitional program. The results of the research intention have been analysed and they are included in the diploma thesis Transitional Program for Persons with Mental Disability. The diploma thesis is published in the archives of theses in IS MU.
In the organizations there were implemented the interview with the coordinators of the transitional program and there were received information materials related to the transitional program. In the Czech Republic the transitional program began providing in 1995, with the greater development occurred after 2000. The aim of the transitional program (the transition from school to work) is to prepare the pupils in the last years of special school for admission to employment after leaving school, to create work habits and get an idea about working in the open labor market. Currently, only seven non-profit organizations provide school to work transitional program. In the six organizations the number of users of the transitional program ranges from one to ten students. In the Czech Republic small extension of the transitional program is affected by uncertain financing services.
