Description For the analysis were selected 18 major city marathons (Berlin and London Marathon from 2007 to 2010 and the Prague Marathon from 2008 to 2010). From the website were downloaded and processed in a split time and results of competitors. Total data were processed 233,700 runners. Marathoners were divided into seven performance (2:29:59 and faster, then further 30 minutes, a group of runners with a time of 5:00:00 is excluded from the analysis, used „gun“ time), and six age groups (39 years and younger , 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59 and over 60 years). The tendency of the pace (TP) is determined by the slope of the linear regression data laps competitor, where the independent variable is the distance from the start and the dependent variable is the relative deviation of pace in the section from the overall rate (vynormováno to 0). Significantly higher values of TP (p <0.05) acquired by men (0.0044) than women (0.00286). Men therefore have a greater tendency to slow marathon race. Among the individual categories are also significant differences (p <0.05), which has the lowest value of TP category runners from 40 to 44 years (0,004) and the highest category of the oldest over 60 years (0.0045). TP scores for each age categories (from youngest to oldest): 0.0042; 0.004; 0.004; 0.004; 0.0042; 0.0045. Runners who achieved acceleration (TP < 0) during a marathon, it was relatively (as a percentage of the performance group) most of the time in goal 3:30:00 to 3:59:59 (18.3%). Represented the highest percentage of athletes who in the performance slowed (TP > 0) were followed up for an elite group under 2:30:00 (8.14%) and slowest of 4:30:00 to 4:59:59 (8, 07%). The results can serve as a starting point for coaches to identify a group of runners who are experiencing a greater extent to errors in the distribution tactic pace during the marathon race.
