Description | The South Sami sociologist, historian and writer Erik Nilsson-Mankok (1908–1993) from Swedish Vilhelmina published in 1977 an anthology of poems under the title Aama Gatterh. In the anthology, there is poem called Epose with introduction: „The Finnish-Carelian epics is Kalevala. Taking its pattern I have adjusted the epics The Schoolboy and Niiles Bryngele, which I heard from my godfather Neila.“ Where is it possible to indicate Mankok's adjustment? Is the similarity in metrum, verse, etc., or rather in the theme or in the effort to articulate the cultural and historical constants of the Sami nation? |
