Description The aim of this presentation was to introduce innovative approaches in teaching Latin medical terminology, which are based on the discourse theory of communication and the theory of language for specific purposes. The teaching methodology focuses on working with authentic medical documents. Innovation reflects the linguistic analysis of the database of authentic clinical diagnoses (provided by teaching hospitals in Brno and Prague). A corpus of authentic clinical diagnoses is currently being processed in the specialized software Sketch Engine, developed by the technicians from the Faculty of Informatics at Masaryk University in Brno.
