| Description | When we think about 16.century period we see that this period is often linked with terms like “Protestant Reformation”, “Catholic Counter-Reformation” or is often linked with “born of real censorship system”. We have to keep on our mind that church in this period wanted to have everybody and everything under control and mainly they wanted make a good impression. One of the “promotion” means or possibility how to make good references about themselves was correcting (rewriting) “unsuitable” texts in their favour. I represented in my contribution with the help of few censorship interferences (replacement and/or addition in the text) concerning time and church place how the censors proceeded in their work and mainly how climate of some time period can influence narrative story and on the contrary how much from this environment can reflect in the text. As far as novellas from Decameron compilation concerns, beside uncensored version, I take into consideration known versions modified by Vincenzo Borghini (1573) and Leonardo Salviati (1582). Samples of changes made in texts of novellas from Decameron compilation are complemented with samples of changes made in novellas written by Francesco Straparola. |
