Description | Self-assessment (self-evaluation) of learners is an important goal of foreign language teaching, because it contributes significantly to increasing the motivation of learners, it educates learners to autonomous personalities and, in addition, promotes their ability to learn lifelong. How can teachers promote self-assessment of learners in the classroom? The paper presents practice-oriented models (or programs) on how to promote the acquisition of self-regulatory skills, which include self-assessment, in the classroom, and, above all, discusses which principles these models follow. Specifically, the cyclical training model of self-regulation by Zimmermann and the four-stage model for the introduction of self-evaluation by Ross and Rolheiser are presented. |
