Description This paper looks at the applicability of corpus-aided methodology in literary translation through the lens of fictional worlds theory. It views fictionality as a semantic phenomenon that is defined by its intensional structuring and accessed through a text's texture governed by a distinct set of global regularities. During the process of translation, these regularities—or intensional functions—represent a layer of meaning that should be ideally transferred along with any paraphrasable elements. The present paper proposes a corpus-aided method to identify and retrieve said regularities, and illustrates a transfer of a naming function present in The Road, a novel by Cormac McCarthy, into its Czech translation.
