Description | The aim of this paper is 1) to theoretically define the concepts of self-directed and self- regulated learning and to emphasize differences of both concepts; 2) to compare research approaches to these concepts in the online environment; 3) to review the potential for the development of self-regulated skills in virtual learning environments. The study reflects the need for online learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and can be seen as a contribution to the discussion on promoting student independence in online learning. |
