Description | Metallosilicates derived from silanolate functionalities are of interest to chemists, material scientists and physicists alike. The kinetically stable silanetriols1 RSi(OH)3 can be used as versatile building blocks for generation of discrete three-dimensional structures incorporating silicon and a transition metal. The reactions between equimolar amounts of silanetriols with suitable partners lead to cubic metallosilicate compounds. The presence of a metal in the siloxane framework gives to these compounds catalytic activity and it can be also used for the preparation of oxidic and hybrid materials. We have interested in the reactions of stable N - substituted silanetriol - N-trimethylsilyl-N-trihydroxysilyl-2,6-diisopropylaniline. As a second reagent we used alkoxides (M(OR)4) and trichlorides (RMCl3) of various elements. In both cases R is an organic substituent and M can be for example Ti2, Si, B, P, Zr, V and other elements. As an example, the reactions of silanetriol with RSiCl3 (R = tBu, Ph, Me, H) in the presence of Et3N or pyridine as acceptor of HCl were studied. |
