Description | The paper introduces a high-level decomposition of a generic rendering architecture that is able to cover a wide variety of rendering strategies. The architecture is proposed according to common features found by the analysis of energy distribution techniques. The basic architectural decomposition is extended by a component model. A system based on components enables to replace components with an alternative implementation at runtime. Components therefore makes the graphics system flexible, extensible and easily manageable. It would allow to change illumination strategies at runtime, to combine the strategies, and to facilitate a parallel processing. |
