Description 20 wilde-type strains of P. aeruginosa forming a 24-hour old biofilm in TSB medium on 96-well polystyren microtiter plates were used. We tested eight antibiotics, namely aztreonam, ceftazidim, cefoperazon, cefepim, netilmicin, amikacin, ofloxacin and ciprofloxacin, individually and in combinations. Minimum biofilm inhibitory concentration (MBIC) and fractionate inhibitory concentration (FBIC) were determined. Although in biofilm was P. aeruginosa less susceptible to antibiotics synergy due to 10 P. aeruginosa isolates were demonstrated for Aztreonam and Ciprofloxacin. Synergy was demonstrated also in case of b-lactams and aminoglycosides, b-lactams and fluoroquinolones, aminoglycosides and fluoroquinolones as well as for monobactams and b-lactams although the strains were resistant to the individual antibiotics. Synergism or partial synergism against 32.4 % of isolates with one or more antimicrobial combinations was found.
