What is the purpose of the Student Identity Card?
A Student Identity Card is like an ID card at the university. You may be asked to produce it, for example, at an exam. It entitles you to access to the canteen, the University Computer Centre, the libraries and other places on campus. You can also take advantage of the ISIC card outside the university; the chip card is only valid inside the university.
Full-time higher education students can become ISIC card holders. There is no upper or lower age limit for obtaining an ISIC card – they can be issued to students over the age of 26 years (if they are enrolled in a full-time course of study). For students of combined forms of study and participants in lifelong learning, MU offers the student card ("průkaz studenta"). This can also be obtained by full-time students if they are not interested in the ISIC card.
Student Identity Cards within MU
Your student identity card has the following functions:
• student identification and MU affiliation,
• access to buildings and classrooms,
• access to university computer rooms,
• access to libraries and library services,
• access to copy and print services in libraries and computer rooms,
• access to catering services in university canteens.
Your card is valid for the entire duration of your active studies at MU. Should you return after a period of interrupted or terminated studies, card validity will be automatically restored.
ISIC Usage outside MU
ISIC holders are eligible for a number of student discounts outside of the university, including discounts in restaurants, cafés, bakeries, outdoor sport shops, pharmacies, optical shops, museums, galleries, bookshops, copy centres, selected driving schools and transportation providers such as Student Agency, etc. The ISIC is valid in over 100 countries worldwide and may thus be used for discounts around the globe.
An overview of all benefits and discounts can be found on the ISIC website, as well as the Terms and Conditions of ISIC.
