The project responds to the existing gap in pedagogical knowledge caused by the lack of knowledge for change and knowledge for improvement that is essential for dealing with problems in school education. The project is in line with the content-based approach to studying teaching and learning processes. It tries to produce pedagogical knowledge for improvement by identifying, analysing, assessing, and suggesting alterations to teaching situations relevant for productive culture of teaching and learning across school subjects (languages, maths, science, social science, and aesthetics), and generalising the findings across the teaching situations and inferring indicators of instructional quality. The aims will be realised within professional communities consisting of experienced teachers and researchers. Within the communities, video sequences of teaching situations from real lessons (realized video studies) will be embedded into an e-learning environment and worked on as a case study using the AAA method (annotating, analysing, altering).
