Libraries for visually impaired people are part of the network of university libraries and internet resources and as such form an integral part of information resources used by visually impaired university students. Librarian methods, structure of the fund and methods of the document mediation in the libraries are influenced by user specifications to a great extent. The type of user handicap predetermines the libraries in terms of collecting special (haptic or electronic) versions of documents which have their origins in the printed documents. This brings along many questions concerning e.g. copyright law, relationship between a new document and its original and so on. Answers to these questions form a background for the process of cataloguing which includes setting of the criteria for the retrieval of the information. The specifics of libraries for visually impaired university students (acquisition, cataloguing, structure of the fund, method of the mediation of documents, specifics of users) are the subject of the research in which librarian rules AACR2 and the user’s psychology will be taken into account.
