How to concentrate during online learning?
Distance learning is specific in its own way, and concentrating in a home environment where you usually relax rather than work is a bit of a challenge. Try taking some steps that can make it easier for you.
Remove temptations
Create a workspace (other than your bed!) where there will be no readily available temptations that could distract you. The harder it is to get to them, the better. A phone shut away in another room will be less distracting than if it was next to you. Consider installing applications that will disable social networks or other selected sites for a particular time window.
Make sure no one disturbs you
Let your roommates, parents or siblings know that you are “at school” now. Whether you let them know in advance or put a “don’t disturb” sign on your door, this will increase the chance that they will not distract you unnecessarily. When listening to lectures, use headphones to reduce background noise.
You don’t have to be at home all the time
When you need to leave your room, you can use computers in open computer rooms. If you have your own portable device such as a mobile phone or a tablet, you can use suitable spaces at the University premises with Eduroam connection (libraries and workstations for laptops in open computer rooms and other spaces for independent work).
If you are struggling with connection or other technical issues, review our guide on how to work with MS Teams, where distance learning at MUNI often takes place.
