How to maintain good study habits and avoid procrastination?
In the beginning, studying at home can be a problem. Sleeping in a little or getting stuck watching your favourite series is suddenly far more readily available than before. Maintaining a routine will therefore take a bit more effort, but you can do it!
Schedule your time
You already have a course schedule; now schedule your week as well. Stick to what suits you, whether it’s an electronic calendar, an Excel spreadsheet, or a classic paper diary. Don’t forget to plan short as well as longer breaks and keep them. If you manage to stick to the plan, don’t be afraid to reward yourself in some way.
Dress for success
It may seem unimportant, but it really is easier to keep yourself motivated in clothes other than your pyjamas. Keeping the daily routines you are used to when you leave for school will help you start, whether it’s basic morning hygiene or full make-up.
Follow your own rhythm
If you don’t have a lecture scheduled and are going to study by yourself, stick to what works for you. Do you work better in the morning or in the evening? Are you able to work almost as soon as you get up, or do you enjoy having a long breakfast? Adjust the process of getting up accordingly. Are you the kind of person who prefers working on one task for however long it takes to finish it, or are you more comfortable dividing your work into different stages? Take all this into account while planning. What may suit your fellow students may not be right for you.
